Rise of Isengard: Battlefield Promotions
One of the changes coming with Rise of Isengard is the introduction of Battlefield Promotions. Since this is a completely new system being added to the game it is worth spending a little time looking at exactly what they are and how they will affect us wargs.
What Is A Battlefield Promotion?
The idea behind Battlefield Promotions is pretty simple; every rank you gain you should become more powerful so that a higher ranked creep is more powerful than a lower ranked creep. Battlefield Promotions attempt to do that and will make you progressively more powerful as you gain ranks.
There are a total of 15 levels of Battlefield Promotions, one for each creep rank. Each Battlefield Promotion boosts your damage, morale, power, and finesse. I’ve listed the boost you get at each rank below, courtesy of frgpugs from the official forum.
Battlefield Promotion rank 1: +0% damage, +1% total health, +1% total power, +349.5 Finesse
Battlefield Promotion rank 2: +1% damage, +2% total health, +2% total power, +699 Finesse
Battlefield Promotion rank 3: +2% damage, +3% total health, +3% total power, +1048.5 Finesse
Battlefield Promotion rank 4: +3% damage, +4% total health, +4% total power, +1398 Finesse
Battlefield Promotion rank 5: +4% damage, +5% total health, +5% total power, +1747.5 Finesse
Battlefield Promotion rank 6: +5% damage, +7% total health, +7% total power, +2446.5 Finesse
Battlefield Promotion rank 7: +6% damage, +8% total health, +8% total power, +2796 Finesse
Battlefield Promotion rank 8: +7% damage, +9% total health, +9% total power, +3145.5 Finesse
Battlefield Promotion rank 9: +8% damage, +11% total health, +10% total power, +3495 Finesse
Battlefield Promotion rank 10: +9% damage, +12% total health, +12% total power, +3844.5 Finesse
Battlefield Promotion rank 11: +10% damage, +14% total health, +13% total power, +4194 Finesse
Battlefield Promotion rank 12: +11% damage, +15% total health, +15% total power, +4893 Finesse
Battlefield Promotion rank 13: +12% damage, +17% total health, +16% total power, +5592 Finesse
Battlefield Promotion rank 14: +13% damage, +18% total health, +18% total power, +6291 Finesse
Battlefield Promotion rank 15: +15% damage, +20% total health, +20% total power, +6990 Finesse
What Effect Will They Have?
The most obvious effect will be to make you more powerful than lower ranked wargs. For example, a rank 8 warg is going to have an extra 2% damage, 4% morale, 4% power and 1398 finesse than a rank 5 warg. The difference between ranks becomes more pronounced the more you rank.
This means that there will be a genuine difference between wargs of different ranks. Wargs that are only 1 or 2 ranks apart probably won’t see much difference, but wargs that are several ranks apart should notice a difference in their effectiveness. The freeps should notice this too. A rank 10 warg is going to be harder to kill than a rank 5 warg and will be dishing out more damage to boot.
The fact that you will become inherently more powerful as you rank up also means that you have a good reason to continue ranking even if you have bought your skills from the LOTRO Store. One thing I will say about this though is that Battlefield Promotions are passive abilities, meaning that they aren’t really something you can show off to your friends like you can with a new skill. This might mean that some people don’t see these as a sufficient reward for ranking up.
