Rise of Isengard: Enhanced Skill: Disappear
Having looked at most of our skills and traits that will see changes with Rise of Isengard there is still one that I haven’t covered. It’s a big one. Disappear.
As we know Kelsen posted way back in May in his warg blog that he was thinking of introducing a new trait for wargs called Enhanced Skill: Disappear. It was suggested that this new trait would lower the cooldown of Disappear by 5 mins as well as cleansing the warg of all harmful effects when activated. Pretty sweet stuff eh?
Then the QQ began.
Because Burgers can only get their HiPs cooldown reduced to 7 minutes it was decided that, for parity’s sake, the new trait would offer identical functionality to wargs. Instead of reducing the cooldown of Disappear by 5 minutes it would now reduce it by 3 minutes.
So what is coming? Well according to chatter on the forum it looks like we are indeed getting this trait and that it will reduce the cooldown of Disappear by 3 minutes. That means that we can activate the skill once every 7 minutes when appropriately traited.
However, according to forums posts, there is no sign of the cleanse. Hmmm … this was one of the most interesting aspects of the proposed new trait and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed that it isn’t there.
Is It Worth It?
Being able to use Disappear more often should allow you to escape more as well as to use Disappear offensively more often. However, you have to balance those gains up with what you are losing: a racial trait slot.
Remember that with Rise of Isengard you will be able to purchase any racial trait you want regardless of your rank. Hence you potentially have access to them all. With more options and limited space choices have to be made. A 3 minute cooldown reduction for Disappear isn’t bad per se, but there are plenty of other racial traits with some very appealing bonuses, not the least of which will be Foe of the Light with its enhanced stealth boost.
What Happened To The Cleanse?
Good question! Unfortunately we don’t have an answer for the moment. What we do know, from the warg development thread on the Turbine forum, is that there was quite a bit of debate on whether there should be a cleanse or some other effect. There was also a bit of confusion over how the cleanse would work. Would it cure every harmful effect or just those that are normally curable? Perhaps the devs are still debating these questions?
It is important to note that there hasn’t been any official word on why there is no cleanse functionality on the trait, either to say it is or isn’t coming. We will just have to wait and see how this part pans out.
